Growing up in Canada I learned to appreciate the look of deciduous trees in winter, after they’ve lost their foliage. I find the severe look of bare trees highly expressive, and marvel at how beautiful trees remain even long after they’ve stopped living, as standing skeletons, or as the wood in everyday objects and building materials.
